Non-Catastrophic Injury Life Care Plan

  • Determine costs of care for those living with permanent chronic illness or physical impairment, who retain the ability to perform some or all ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), but do so with difficulty and loss of quality of life.

  • Conditions include: Mild to Moderate Brain Injury, Spinal Injury, Extremity Injury, Brachial Plexus Injury, Mild to Moderate Burns, PTSD, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, Chronic Pain.


Non-Catastrophic Injury Future Medical Cost Assessment 

  • Shorter report than a Life Care Plan and does not include a home visit or interview.

  • Recommendations are based on either medical records or communication with treating physicians.

  • The author is not designated as an Expert. 


Catastrophic Injury Life Care Plan

  • Determine costs of care for those living with permanent chronic illness or physical impairment, who have lost the ability to fully perform ADLs (Activities of Daily Living).

  • Conditions include:  Amputation, Spinal Cord Injury, Moderate to Severe Brain Injury, Major Burns

Life Care Plan Review and Rebuttal

Review the opposing expert’s Life Care Plan:​

  • Need for specific treatments 

  • Alternative lower cost treatments

  • Projected life expectancy

  • Review pricing


Independent Medical Exam (IME)

  • Review all medical records and diagnostic studies that are provided

  • Conduct a history and physical exam

  • Draft a written report with opinions on:  

    • Causation of the injury or illness in question 

    • Apportionment if there are two or more causes 

    • Appropriateness of past medical treatment 

    • Need for further evaluation and treatment

    • Disability, including necessity of any past time loss and current work capacity/restrictions

    • Maximum medical improvement (medically stability), impairment rating, and prognosis 


Medical File Review

  • Medical case reviews:  determine if a case is worth pursuing, medical issues, causation, and damages  

  • Disability chart reviews: determine whether a claimant’s medical condition meets the definition of disability under the applicable policy language, eligibility for short-term disability or long-term disability

  • Utilization reviews

  • Chart reviews

  • Second opinions

Loss of Earnings Assessment

  • Gather personal information, current government statistics, and income and benefit trends in relevant jobs, and projection of lost profits if a business owner.

  • Consider differences between earning capacity and historical earnings, factoring in probability of survival and probability of employment.

  • Prepared by highly qualified Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists, who are independent Consulting Associates.


Present Value Assessment

  • For medical or vocational damages, calculate  these damages in future dollars and then discount these future damages to present value.

  • Compute inflation rates for specific goods, services and wages in a consistent matter relative to the inflation rates and discount rates utilized. 

  • Prepared by highly qualified Economists, who are independent Consulting Associates.
