Position Overview

LCPMD seeks an Economist Expert to quantify past and future economic damages, chiefly the present value of lost earnings and/or future medical expenses, for personal injury and defense attorneys. As an Economist Expert, you will apply established economic principles to evaluate wage loss, diminished earning capacity, and future medical expenses—translating complex data into clear, defensible reports for litigation purposes and providing expert testimony when needed.

Why Join LCPMD?

  • Focus exclusively on your expertise—no need for business development or external marketing

  • Work with a dedicated internal team that manages client communication, case logistics, and ongoing project flow

  • Receive qualified case assignments with minimal administrative burden

  • Enjoy remote flexibility with expert-level compensation

  • Be part of a mission-driven organization that values accuracy, clarity, and objectivity in expert work

Qualifications Required:

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Applied Statistics, or a related quantitative field

  • Minimum 3 years of experience calculating economic damages or conducting present value analyses

  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with statistical tools (e.g., R, Stata, or Python)

  • Experience working with labor market data, government publications, and public datasets (e.g., BLS, SSA, Treasury rates)

  • Strong analytical writing and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage deadlines and deliver professional reports under time constraints

Preferred:

  • Terminal degree in Economics, Finance, Applied Statistics, or a related quantitative field

  • Prior experience providing sworn testimony in depositions or court

  • Familiarity with discounting methodologies used in Life Care Plan present value conversion

  • Membership in professional associations such as NAFE, AAEA, or similar

  • Coursework or certification in forensic/litigation economics

  • Familiarity with life expectancy, worklife expectancy, and mitigation analysis models

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze financial and labor-market data along with vocational and medical expert reports to calculate past losses and the discounted present value of future losses

  • Apply accepted forensic-economic methodologies for work-life expectancy, growth, mitigation, and discounting, ensuring outputs meet state and federal evidentiary standards

  • Author well-documented, defensible economic reports suitable for deposition and trial submission

  • Testify clearly and confidently in deposition and at trial as needed

  • Satisfactorily meet deadlines as indicated

  • Coordinate closely with LCPMD’s internal support team on scheduling, document flow, and deadline management

Expert Role Expectations:

  • Produce objective, citation-rich opinions that withstand cross-examination.

  • Keep current with economic research, CPI/Wage indices, and discount-rate guidance.

  • Adhere to industry standards and LCPMD internal quality protocols.

  • Represent LCPMD professionally across stakeholder interactions

  • Maintain credentialing and fulfill continuing education requirements

  • Ensure punctual delivery of evaluative work and expert testimony

  • Provide deposition and trial testimony, including occasional in-person appearances when required.
